Grantmaking Philosophy
Strategic Philanthropy
The Women's Giving Alliance makes grants that will measurably improve the lives of women and girls in Northeast Florida.
WGA makes grants in four Fields of Interest that have the greatest potential to help prepare women and girls to lead productive, fulfilling lives:
- Pre-K-12 Public Education
- Economic Empowerment
- Physical and Mental Health
- Violence and Crime Intervention/Prevention
Lasting Results
The Women's Giving Alliance seeks to achieve lasting results to improve the lives of women and girls. This requires careful study, evaluation and a willingness to provide ongoing support, when appropriate.
While WGA evaluates each grant opportunity on its own merits, it is not afraid of a well-calculated risk. WGA is willing to be a venture capitalist, fund new activities that hold promise for women and girls and provide multi-year support as programs grow through start-up into sustainability.
Goals
- Apply creative solutions to critical needs of women and girls in Northeast Florida;
- Produce lasting and measurable impact in our community;
- Shape the community's agenda for women and girls which could have the potential to produce systemic change.
Guiding Principles
In its grantmaking, WGA
- Uses community research to develop priority initiatives;
- Focuses on prevention and effective intervention approaches;
- Supports new ideas and tested efforts, as well as programs that have demonstrated results and impact;
- Establishes expectations for sustainability, significant and lasting value, and impact.
