About The Community Foundation
The Community Foundation in Jacksonville is a public foundation. Founded in 1964, it is the oldest community foundation in Florida, one of the 20 largest foundations in Florida and the third largest community foundation in the state ranked by assets. Today it serves Northeast Florida through grantmaking from more than 300 different funds holding assets of more than $150 million. Realizing the important role that philanthropy has in creating a healthy, vibrant community, the Foundation works to grow philanthropy in Northeast Florida through educational programs, advocacy, research and outreach programs.
The Women's Giving Alliance (WGA) is an initiative of the Foundation designed to involve women actively in philanthropy, provide an opportunity for them to learn more about strategic giving and provide a mechanism for them to use impact-oriented philanthropy to effect systemic change. The Foundation provides staff support, guidance and financial support for WGA's many activities and programs.
The WGA pooled grant fund and the Women's Endowment Fund are among the many grantmaking funds that are administered by the Foundation. Grants recommended from such funds, including grants recommended by the WGA, must be approved by the Board of Trustees of the Foundation.
